New York Solar: Solar growth is considered big league
New York Leads
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to make New York the nationwide leader in clean and renewable energy.
Community solar is one of the many ways that Governor Cuomo is looking to make the change. Community solar allows residents without traditional access to solar the ability to take advantage of the technology.
He earlier this year made a historic commitment to 26 community solar projects to spur growth.
The investment is already paying off — the state projects 100 percent solar growth year-over-year (2017-18).
John Weaver is a commercial solar developer and writer for PV-Magazine.
He believes New York is taking the necessary steps to become big players in the solar industry.
“The state of New York has joined the big leagues when it comes to solar power.” he says.
At the helm of the proclamation is the state’s 1,000 percent solar growth, a significant increase in solar jobs, and 70 percent reduction in the price of solar since 2012.
States make independent stands to help subsidize the American solar industry.
The decision to go solar is both an economic and environmental investment.
New York State’s Clean Energy Initiative requires the state run on 50 percent clean and renewable energy by 2030.
NY – Sun was created to support this measure.
NY – Sun is a New York taxpayer benefit program that allows qualifying homeowners to make the easy switch to solar energy.
